100 years HD (The Harley-Davidson)

100 years HD (The Harley-Davidson)- The Harley-Davidson Company or HD has been around for more than 100 years. It all began in 1903 with two friends in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. William S. Harley stands for H in HD. Arthur Davidson is one of three D's. The other two D's are his brothers Walter and William Davidson. William Harley and Arthur Davidson began work on the prototype, eventually seeking the help of Walter and William. Walter is a trained mechanic. William is an experienced toolmaker. Together, the group formed the later-founded HD Company.

In 1903 it turned out that HD were a total of 3 motorcycles. All are purchased and paid before completion. Gray is the standard color of the first HD motorcycle, often referred to as the "Silent Gray Fellows."

In late 1905, the HD Company not only sold motorcycles, but also motorcycles, marine engines, reversible propellers, and floating carburetors. The price for a motorcycle is $ 200.

The popularity of HD motorcycles continues to grow over the next decade. In 1914, nine US federal agencies used HD. US Postal Service Just use over 4,800 Harley Davidson motorcycles for rural mail.

In 1916, the military began HD fighting on the border with Pancho Villa. The motorcycle is equipped with a machine gun. HD motorcycles are also used in the First World War, with half of all manufactured models being shipped abroad. This war was also responsible for founding the first Harley-Davidson Service School. HD companies see a need and fulfill it.

1920 ended the war and the beginning of the racing world. HD makes a big impression. Harley-Davidson suffered, but survived the Great Depression and prospered until the 1930s.

Unfortunately, the Second World War came in the 1940s and HD was put back into service.

In 1950 brought new and more aggressive marketing strategies and expansion for this big company. War broke out again, this time in Korea. Motorcycles were replaced by the military with a jeep. HD is free to focus on its civilian consumers.

The 1960s brought many changes to Huntington's disease, just like any other in the US. This was also the case when companies began to develop themselves in the field of leisure products that had nothing to do with the production of three-wheeled golf carts. By the end of this decade, the car had conquered about a third of the US market and was even used as a supervisor. HD also began to market a wide range of motorcycle accessories.

In the 1970s, the success continued in racing. Significant progress has been made on race bikes from HD. In the late 1970s, the company also launched a new snowmobile on the market. Perhaps the biggest change is the merger of HD and AMF.

The repurchases began in 1980 and the HD Company returned to private ownership. The company appears to have a renewed interest in building better engines, which is why it won contracts with the California Highway Patrol in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1989.

The 1990s were delivered with the most customizable HD motorcycle look ex factory, FLSTF Fat Boy. This bike is reminiscent of the past and is contemporary.

The 21st century has come and HD remains strong. Current bike lines include Sporster, Dyna, Softail, VRSC and Touring lines. Each line contains several models. Bicycles are now sold between $ 6,000 and $ 25,000.
